Compulsory Earthquake Insurance (TCIP)

Covered Buildings:

The Compulsory Earthquake Insurance is typically an insurance system which is constituted for dwellings within limits of municipalities. The buildings covered as per the second article of the Decree Law nr. 587 of the Compulsory Earthquake Insurance are as follows:

  • Buildings constructed, as dwellings, on immovable properties that are registered in the title deed and under the private ownership,
  • Independent sections within the scope of the Condominium Law nr. 634,
  • Independent sections contained in these buildings and used for enterprises, offices and similar purposes,
  • Dwellings constructed by the state itself or by loans granted by the state due to acts of god or,

  • A Compulsory Earthquake Insurance is obligatory for buildings established with a floor easement, buildings whose types have not been corrected and are still indicated as “lands, etc.” in the register of title deeds and dwellings of building cooperatives which have no issuances of title deeds, all of which are in compliance with the following stipulations. The insurance of dwellings which do not have independent title deeds can be made on the basis of the statements of the assured and also on contents of the title deed.

    Scope of Coverage:

    By a Compulsory Earthquake Insurance policy, material damages that may be directly caused on the insured buildings by landslide caused by EQ, including the following, (consisting of foundations, main walls, common walls partitioning independent sections, garden walls, retaining walls, ceilings and floors,
    stairs, lifts (elevators), landings, corridors, roofs, chimneys and complements of a similar construction in buildings) are covered for up to the sum insured by the TCIP.
