Sigorta A.Ş. (Toprak Insurance Inc.) whose core business is insurance was registered on September 7 1995 and started running business facilities as of June 1 1996. The company provides insurance facilities in an array of fire, marine, accident and engineering insurance branches.

Partnership rights, management and control, other than dividends, of Toprakbank A.Ş., former ultimate shareholder, were transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) pursuant to paragraphs 3 and 4 of Article 14 of the Banking Law according to the resolution of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), numbered BDDK.DEG/49-2-10431 and dated 30 November 2001, which was promulgated at the Official Gazette of 1 December 2001. 

SDIF then resolved to merge Ege Sigorta A.Ş. and Toprak Sigorta A.Ş., which was also under its supervision, within the body of Toprak Sigorta and the merge was performed on December 9 2003 upon the completion of the corresponding arrangements.

It was resolved to sell off Toprak Sigorta Anonim Şirketi’s shares of 95.064% to Euro Yatırım Menkul Değerler A.Ş. as per the SDIF Fund Committee’s resolution numbered 2007/541 and dated October 25 2007 and such transfer of shares was approved upon the letter of the Treasury of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Turkey, numbered B.02.1.HZN.0/10/02.01 and dated January 15 2008.
